Bell Ringer Reflections: 2022 Professional Awards

Nominate a colleague TODAY for 2023

Public Relations professionals spend more time elevating the brands of executives, products and companies than stepping into the spotlight themselves. While that’s part of the job, the PR Club has always felt it’s important to provide opportunities for practitioners to be publicly recognized for their great efforts and achievements. In that spirit, the Bell Ringer Professional Awards were created. At a high level, the four opportunities for New England-based PR pros include:

Striker Award – recognizes a communications professional newer to the field who demonstrates a love of the industry, dedication to their career and superior work ethic.

Ringer Award – identifies a mid-level communications professional who shows steady and significant progress that positively impacts their skills, workplace and industry.

John J. Malloy Crystal Bell – celebrates the lifetime achievements of a top communications veteran with an extensive track record and distinguished credentials.

William M. Cavanaugh Student Grant – identifies one undergraduate junior and senior (in an accredited journalism, public relations or communications program) who demonstrate high interest and potential.

Competition is strong and submissions are always impressive. The Bells Award Committee caught up with a handful of 2022 nominators/winners to share a few reflections.

Bianca Chaer, 2022 Bell Ringer Award

“It was an honor to be recognized and I’m thankful to Michelle Sullivan for the nomination. Winning helped me build confidence and realize how having a Brazilian background contributes to my success. I keep the award on my bookshelf as a reminder of all the time and work I’ve dedicated to my education and professional life.”

Kelley Chunn, 2022 Crystal Bell Award

“It was incredible to receive the PR Club Crystal Bell Award. It’s so important to recognize individual achievements and contributions, so fellow practitioners understand and are inspired by best practices. This is especially true for those who conduct exemplary work and contributions to the areas of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion leadership, mentoring and campaigns. I hope communications professionals of every generation stay visible by taking a chance on special projects that have greater societal impact, networking and giving back to the field, and joining organizations like the PR Club and PRSA.”

Vanessa Taylor on Matter’s Nomination for 2022 Striker Award

“Recognition early in a PR professional’s career helps motivate and inspire them and others. It’s important for rising communications practitioners to be open about successes and challenges, and share wins and losses, to enhance collaboration and learning. Future Striker Award nominators should not just focus on who secures the most hits; the best PR practitioner could be someone that consistently provides high-impact, quality coverage that maps directly back to client objectives. If you know a team player, creative brainstormer, media-savvy professional who can think tactically and strategically, consider them for the PR Club Striker Award.”

Submissions for the PR Club Bell Ringer Professional Awards will be accepted until April 14 at 6 p.m. (There’s no charge to PR Club members to nominate.)

We look forward to announcing and celebrating award winners on June 8 at The Royal Sonesta Boston. Stay tuned for the link to purchase tickets.
