Getting to Know The Board: Holly Bertschmann, Board Member

Where do you work and what is your title?

I work at Matter Communications where I am an Account Executive and a Co-Chair of the Young Professionals Employee Resource Group.

What is your Twitter handle?

@HollyBertsch

Briefly summarize your background. What kind of industry/clients do you work with?

I largely work in consumer PR, which I love as often when I try to think strategically on how to reach my client’s audience in creative ways, I can look in the mirror as I fall within their target audience. Through tapping new media outlets that I myself enjoy reading and partnering with influencers I love and follow, I find I can enjoy my job and bring my personal life into it to benefit my clients.

Describe what you do for PR Club.

I am on the Bells team for the PR Club! I work with an amazing team where we help launch the Bell Ringer awards every year and then we get to help plan an event to properly celebrate the amazing PR, Comms and marketing pros we have in our region.

Name your top three favorite things about PR.

  1. The people. At our core, we’re communicators and I love chatting with my coworkers and getting to know them more. I have truly met some of my closest friends and mentors through my career in PR.
  2. Events! I’ve gotten to go to events and manage celebrity red carpet interviews and be a part of some really amazing campaigns that I love to brag to my friends and family about.
  3. Everyday is different and no day is boring. 🙂

Do you have a childhood moment when everyone knew you’d be a communications specialist?

I didn’t really talk until I was four. My parents took me to the doctor and the doctor always said I’d start talking some day. Since I started, I haven’t stopped and my dad told me that it would get me somewhere someday.

What is your top getaway destination?

I had never been to Europe and when I graduated college I went on a trip with my friends. Two weeks after I got back from Spain I went to Ireland with my family. Then the pandemic hit, and I am excited to get the opportunity to go back. London and Italy are on the top of my list!

If you could take a client to any restaurant in Boston where would you go?

Ocean Prime in the Seaport. One of the best caesar salads I’ve ever had and there’s no food that tops steak and potatoes in my mind!

Go to Dunks order?

If you had asked me this a year ago, it would be a medium cold brew with 1 pump of caramel and skim milk. Now as I try to be more adult – medium cold brew with almond milk.
